“Yoga should meet the student where they are.”
Martha is a Yoga Alliance E-RYT certified teacher who has taught over 1,000 classes. Her students have been as young as 10 and as old as 99. She has taught classes at yoga studios, corporations and institutions in San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Santa Fe (the place where she grew up and to which she has returned).
Martha has practiced yoga for 21 years. She was initially drawn to it to combat her body’s responses to a car accident and to deal with the stress of her career as a real estate developer in Silicon Valley. In midlife, yoga became her life, when she thoroughly committed to reinvigorating her personal practice. As she advanced in asana and began including pranayama and meditation, her practice began to flourish. In addition to first being an apprentice and then working with Tom Abrehamson, who is now Martha’s partner in Santa Fe Yoga, Martha’s teacher training has included, among others, intensive teacher training with Manouso Manos, one of the top Iyengar Yoga teachers in the world, and teachers from India who had been directly schooled by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya.
